The Staff and Faculty Consultation Center (SFCC) seeks an occasional Counselor/Consultant to join our highly effective internal team of Employee Assistance professionals. SFCC Consultants provide rapid assessment and brief confidential counseling to Caltech employees, post-docs, and faculty, and their household members. Issues addressed may include personal or relationship concerns, work-related events, difficulty with alcohol and other drugs, health, legal, or other factors that may affect job performance.
Job Summary
:
The SFCC provides organizational consultation to campus leaders, and is engaged in Institute compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Act. The team offers a variety of groups, workshops, and training related to workplace and life management topics. SFCC Consultants actively respond to campus crises, and are involved in disaster planning to support the Institute’s response and recovery efforts.
Essential Job Duties
:
- Apply specialized knowledge and expertise to provide EAP counseling to employees and/or their family members and make timely and appropriate referrals.
- Consult with managers, faculty members, and Human Resources on cases involving individual employees and/or troubled work groups to enhance workplace functioning and promote conflict resolution.
- Provide direct services following campus-related or regional crisis.
- Conduct outreach with special populations on campus and continue to develop appropriate services.
- Develop and maintain effective linkages with appropriate Institute personnel, community agencies, treatment providers, and related resources.
- Collaborate with other organizations in the planning and assessment of new and ongoing programs.
- Manage deadlines and work independently.
- Maintain records in a complete and timely fashion.
- Adhere to professional ethical standards.
Basic Qualifications
:
- Master’s degree or above in a mental health field such as psychology, social work, or counseling.
- Current licensure as a Psychologist, MFT, or LCSW in the state of California.
- 5 or more years of related experience, including individual, couple, and family therapy.
- Strong clinical assessment skills, including the ability to triage.
- Crisis management expertise and experience relevant to the workplace.
- Demonstrated programming and outreach abilities.
- Strong training, development, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
:
- Direct experience working in employee assistance in higher education or equivalent position.
- Bilingual Spanish/English.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication.
- Working knowledge of social media tools and web-based applications.
Salary and Benefits
: $41.25 - $52.00 per hour. Caltech provides comprehensive benefits to eligible employees and their eligible dependents.
