The Role of an Investment Associate at AWM Capital

The Investment Associate plays a critical role in supporting AWM’s investment platform, partnering closely with the investment team and advisors to deliver thoughtful, precise, and timely investment execution. This role blends analytical rigor with operational excellence and communication, contributing directly to client outcomes and firm-wide efficiency.

As an Investment Associate, you will support public and private market investing, trading, investment research, portfolio implementation, reporting, and compliance administration—while developing deep expertise in AWM’s investment philosophy and systems.

Core Responsibilities

Investment Research & Analysis

  • Support research of public and private investment opportunities and ongoing evaluation of existing strategies.
  • Assist in preparing materials for the Investment Committee, including standardized meeting templates.
  • Conduct individual investment research for unique client positions and present findings internally.
  • Execute daily trading tasks and portfolio maintenance in AWM’s portfolio management systems.
  • Monitor portfolios for rebalancing, tax-loss harvesting, tolerance drift, and cash deployment.
  • Support portfolio creation, adjustments, and model alignment in coordination with senior team members.
  • Maintain awareness of client asset flows, cash movements, and trading activity.

Investment Communications & Reporting

  • Assist in the preparation of investment communications, presentations, and internal training materials.
  • Create and maintain investment-related report templates and generate ad hoc client reports as needed.
  • Troubleshoot data and performance discrepancies across reporting systems.

Administration, Compliance & Operations

  • Maintain internal investment documentation, trading logs, and compliance materials.
  • Support audit preparation, best-execution reporting, and coordination with compliance partners.
  • Manage subscription documentation and investor communications for private investments.
  • Maintain accurate data flow and classification within financial planning and reporting systems.
  • Communicate clearly with advisors and internal teams to ensure accurate execution and follow-through.
  • Participate in workflow management, process improvement, and cross-team coordination.
