Job Description
To provide supervised advice to the business in compliance with radiation protection legislation as well as on Class 7 Dangerous goods legislation and to ensure that all work is done to keep the risk from radiation exposure as low as reasonably practicable to all critical groups.
Job Requirements- Knowledge and experience in radiation safety, monitoring, and compliance
- Skills in data analysis, report preparation, and safety documentation
- Experience with radiation equipment operations and maintenance
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively on-site and in team-oriented environments
- Proficiency with relevant technologies and software used in radiation monitoring
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in radiation safety are advantageous
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Physics, Environmental Science, or Engineering is preferred
- Work towards developing skills, knowledge and experience associated with the beneficial use of radioactive materials.
- Support the Corporate Radiation Safety Officer:
- Develop and manage the radiation protection programme policy and implementation to ensure legal compliance and best practice
- Providing liaison and supervision to ensure that advice from the EHS/RP team is promptly, effectively, and consistently implemented by the business through direct support, review, and reporting.
- Undertaking radiation protection audits which will eventually include visits to other bases and to suppliers to ensure that legally complaint and best working practices are being observed in relation to the deployment of Tracerco sealed and unsealed radioactive materials.
- Managing relationships with the regulatory authorities to ensure that legal compliance requirements are met, and that change is managed effectively.
- Providing internal class 7 dangerous goods, radiation protection training programmes to staff to ensure that staff are trained and that the business meets statutory requirements.
- Providing advice to the business to ensure that both legal and best practices are followed.
- Proving input during the development of new Tracerco products and services to optimise radiological safety.
- To carry out any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.
