Role ImpactYou will prepare detailed electrical power systems designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump station rehabilitation, and greenfield projects with minimal supervision. You will collaborate with project managers, designers, cost estimators, and other engineering disciplines to deliver quality work on schedule and within budget.
Responsibilities- Design electrical systems for water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities.
- Prepare contract documents, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Develop low‑ and medium‑voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency power systems, UPS, and batteries.
- Apply best practices, codes, and guidelines related to electrical engineering.
- Engage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Develop basis of design reports, one‑line diagrams, motor control diagrams, panel schedules, conduit routing, load calculations, and voltage drop calculations.
- Coordinate with electric utility companies for new services.
- Utilize lighting software for calculations and photometrics.
- Perform power system studies: load flow, short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and equipment sizing.
- Conduct quality control and assurance of electrical engineering plans and estimates.
- Perform field visits and site investigations.
- Provide construction services: submittal reviews, RFI responses, change order reviews, and record drawings.
- Assist with pursuits and proposals.
- Collaborate with multi‑discipline teams across locations.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Self‑motivate and work productively without supervision.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Registered California Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) with reciprocity.
- Minimum 15 years experience in water industry electrical engineering.
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, AGi
32 or Visual Lighting Software, and SKM or ETAP. - Experience with permitting review agencies.
- Strong time‑management skills.
- Strong understanding of NEC and NFPA 820.
- Familiarity with IEEE color book series.
- Strong analytical, conceptual and organizational skills.
- Effective interface with all personnel levels.
- Team orientation and self‑motivation.
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience designing municipal water and wastewater projects via various delivery methods.
- Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD/Microstation, Revit MEP, Title 24 compliance.
- Field investigative and startup experience.
