The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Center for Quantum Computing in Pasadena, CA is looking to hire a Hardware Development Engineer with experience in semiconductor process development and expertise in lithography techniques. The role supports AWS’s effort to bring cloud quantum computing services to its worldwide customer base. You will solve problems related to the fabrication and characterization of novel quantum processors inside and outside the cleanroom environment.
Key Job Responsibilities- Develop, improve, and sustain fabrication processes.
- Analyze inline metrology and inspection data.
- Collaborate with project leads to provide feedback that continuously improves fabrication processes.
- Apply sound engineering principles, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Basic Qualifications- 2+ years of hardware design and validation experience at the component, subsystem, or system level.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics, or a related field.
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and live‑site operations.
- Experience with hardware/software integration and real‑time systems.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Linux Bash.
- Experience in direct writing and maskless photolithography in a research and development environment.
