* Job Description:

** General

Summary:

The Adapted PE Teacher will provide services to students with disabilities who cannot participate without support in the general physical education classes consistent with the students individualized education plan.
** The areas of services needed are:
Aliso Viejo, Anaheim Hills, Compton, Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Glendale, La Habra, Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo, Santa Ana, Upland, Westminster and Yorba Linda.
**** Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:
*** Provide adapted physical education instruction to meet student needs and goals as specified on the IEP.  In physical fitness, gross motor skills, perceptual motor skills, and sports and games achievement
* Provide individualized assessment and instruction in neuromotor development, gross motor skills and abilities, physical fitness, games and sports, and other recreation and leisure activities
* Provide consultation and training to parents and staff regarding adapted physical education techniques
* Document student progress and present levels of performance by standardized, formal, curriculum-based, anecdotal and/or teacher made assessments
* Seek technical assistance and consultation as needed from colleagues, program support specialists, and Special Education Leadership Team
* Other duties as assigned

*** Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program
* Ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of student
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community
* Ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication

* Education and Experience:

*** BA/BS Degree
