Craftwater is seeking a Landscape Design Intern to join our multidisciplinary Design Group in Pasadena, California
. This internship offers year‑round opportunities with a flexible schedule and is ideal for students who want hands‑on experience working on real‑world public projects. Interns will support the planning and design of parks, trails, green streets, and stormwater infrastructure while learning how interdisciplinary teams collaborate to deliver projects from concept through construction. Flexible schedule, year‑round opportunities (part‑time or full‑time depending on availability).
Role
As a Landscape Design Intern, you will work alongside Landscape Designers and Landscape Architects to support both conceptual design and technical documentation tasks. You will contribute to graphics and exhibits that communicate design intent, assist with drafting and organizing construction document sets, and help with project coordination activities such as meeting preparation, field investigations, and outreach events. This role is designed to build professional experience, strengthen production skills, and provide exposure to how public‑sector landscape projects are developed and delivered in a collaborative studio environment.
Qualifications- Current enrollment in a Landscape Architecture program at an accredited school
- Completion of at least two years of study in landscape architecture (or equivalent coursework)
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Ability to learn quickly, take direction, and apply feedback to improve work quality
- Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Demonstrated interest in public‑sector projects, parks, trails, green streets, community spaces, green infrastructure, and climate‑resilient public space design
- Assist in producing graphics and presentation materials that support conceptual designs for parks, trails, green streets, and stormwater infrastructure
- Support preparation of construction documents
, including drafting plans, organizing sheets, assembling details, and contributing to specifications and cost estimate inputs as directed - Help develop exhibits, diagrams, and visualizations to communicate design intent and public benefit outcomes
- Support field investigations by assisting with documentation of site conditions, taking photos, and organizing field notes
- Participate in project meetings and public‑facing events as needed by helping prepare materials, taking notes, and tracking follow‑up items
- Coordinate with team members to keep tasks organized and maintain quality standards for deliverables
- Complete a range of supporting duties that contribute to project success and help advance Craftwater’s reputation for quality, collaboration, and public benefit
- Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn new tools, workflows, and design approaches in a professional studio setting
$20 — $27 an hour
