Position Summary:
The Truck Driver is responsible for transporting finished goods and raw materials to and from local manufacturing plants, suppliers or vendors.
- Transport finished goods and raw materials to and from local manufacturing plants, suppliers or vendors within 250 miles.
- Normal driving schedule is usually 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; home every night.
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.
- Plan routes to meet delivery schedules.
- Comply with all federal, state and local rules and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
- Report defects, accidents, or violations.
- Maintain accurate receipts for all fuel purchases.
- Verify loads against shipping papers.
- Load and unload trucks.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- Class A or B CDL License
- Ability to safely operate the motor vehicle.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Solid problem-solving skills.
- Ability to contribute and work in a team environment.
- Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness to ensure first quality of work.
- Ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with people in the course of work.
- Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift.
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Current DOT physical.
- Current Motor Vehicle Record.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of Truck Driver, the employee is continually required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee is occasionally required to crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
