Senior AWS Engineer

Location:

hybrid and located in the Netherlands.

• Work on complex migrations from legacy data warehouses (Teradata, Oracle, on-prem systems) to modern cloud-native platforms on AWS.
• Design and implement cloud-native data architectures on AWS, leveraging lakehouse and data mesh paradigms where appropriate.
• Build and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes using AWS services (S3, Lambda, Glue, etc.) in conjunction with cloud data warehouses like Snowflake and Databricks.
• Collaborate with client teams to understand their data landscape and translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure data quality, security, and compliance throughout migration and implementation processes.
• Develop and maintain advanced data solutions and products
• Extract, transform, and integrate various data sources
• Build and optimize data models and pipelines
• Improve data quality and automate processing workflows
• Develop data pipelines and manage their deployment
• Analyze problem statements and translate them into actionable data plans
• Research and apply relevant developments in data technologies
• Present insights and results to internal stakeholders
• Contribute to long‑term data architecture and automation

• Deep hands‑on experience with core AWS services, especially those at the intersection of data engineering:
• S3, data lake architectures
• EC2, Lambda, containerization (ECS/EKS)
• VPCs, subnets, security groups, routing. You don't need to be a networking specialist, but you understand how services communicate securely
• AWS Glue, EMR, or similar data processing services
• You've built production‑grade data pipelines and understand the full lifecycle from ingestion to consumption.
• Proven track record migrating from legacy data warehouses (Teradata, Oracle, on‑prem systems) to cloud platforms.
• Understanding of lakehouse and data mesh paradigms, and when to apply them.
• Hands‑on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, or similar platforms. Strong Snowflake experience is a significant advantage.

• Deep Snowflake expertise: architecture design, performance optimization, security best practices, cost management—this is a big bonus.
• Fluency in Dutch, as it can help with client communication.
• Experience with data governance frameworks and compliance requirements in regulated industries (banking, finance).
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Cloud Formation).
• Previous consulting or client‑facing experience.
