Geotechnical Engineer

. This full-time position will be located in our New York City or Parsippany, NJ office with travel to/from job sites and the possibility of working outside of the office to support field programs for environmental and geotechnical projects.

• Provide construction monitoring/on-site engineering observation for geotechnical and environmental projects.
• Perform site reconnaissance to observe existing conditions, assess access for subsurface explorations, and identify important site features.
• Monitor subsurface exploration activities that include test borings, geoprobe rigs, and machine-excavated test pits to gather soil and bedrock samples.
• Conduct field investigations, including soil and groundwater sampling in accordance with applicable ASTM standards and other industry guidelines.
• Conduct geotechnical engineering analyses.
• Compile, reduce, analyze, manage, and report field, instrumentation, geological, and environmental data using spreadsheets and other tools.
• Use various geotechnical and environmental instrumentation and equipment.
• Support preparation of written reports, proposals, cost estimates, and other client deliverables.
• Adhere to Site Specific Health and Safety Plans; participate in site safety briefings and audits as applicable.

• B.S. or M.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 0 to 3 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
• Must comply with Haley & Aldrich Guiding Principles and Code of Behavior, and with company and client Health & Safety protocols.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer literacy including proficiency in MS Office.
• Ability and interest in obtaining professional engineering registration (e.g., EIT/FE) where applicable.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation to travel between job sites and office.

The salary range for this position is:

• New York City, NY: $57,000 - $90,000 annually
• Parsippany, NJ: $58,000 - $73,000 annually

Actual compensation will be based on education, related work experience, certificates, skills, and market conditions. Haley & Aldrich reviews salary ranges quarterly.
