SummaryPlans, coordinates, and institutes functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering projects within the area of assigned responsibility. This transitional position provides on‑site project engineering experience under the supervision of a Project Engineer, preparing the individual for advancement to a full Project Engineer role.
Responsibilities- Solution of complex problems and calculations using engineering formulas.
- Evaluate research, write technical reports.
- Assist in preparation of proposal estimates of time and expenses.
- Assist in scheduling staffing requirements for field projects.
- Supervise and instruct field personnel as needed.
- Develop and maintain a schedule and budget; control expenditures.
- Prepare interim and completion project reports.
- Interface with customers to provide status reports and ensure needs are met.
- Maintain project deliverables, design documents, and bid packages.
- Conduct routine laboratory checks and concrete/rebar inspection testing.
- Perform field inspections, monitoring of soil, groundwater, and contamination.
- Assist in geological reporting, mapping, and research.
- Participate in client conferences, regulatory coordination.
- Travel up to 75% of the time; include both domestic and out‑of‑state assignments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 3–5 years of field or related experience;
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within 2 years. - OSHA HAZWOPER 40‑hour certification.
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, GSLOPE, Key Wall, Rocscience, and related software.
- Strong mathematical skills (probability, statistics, geometry, trigonometry).
- Familiarity with field equipment: lump hammer, hand auger, nuclear density gauge.
- Strong written and verbal communication; ability to prepare detailed reports.
Frequent standing, walking, lifting under 50 lbs, use of hands, climbing, balance. Requires close and distance vision; may be exposed to moderate noise.
Work EnvironmentOffice setting with approximately 25% – 75% field work. Outdoor conditions include cold, hot, rain, snow, ice; requires proper PPE.
CompensationBase salary $90,000 – $120,000, plus mileage reimbursement, benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off), tuition reimbursement, professional development assistance, and bonus potential.
