Job Summary Langan is seeking a Geotechnical Senior Project Engineer/Manager to join its collaborative team in Parsippany, NJ
. This role provides geotechnical engineering expertise through analysis and design, with projects primarily in utility/energy, residential, office, and retail/warehouse markets. Additional responsibilities include geotechnical aspects of construction, support for project management, supervision of staff engineers, and client interfacing. The role offers opportunities to partner cross-functionally on both small-scale and large-scale geotechnical projects.

Responsibilities
  • Perform complex analyses, structural design of pile elements and underpinning systems, and special engineering inspections.
  • Prepare technical documents and manage proposals, reports, construction documents, and related correspondence.
  • Supervise field investigations and conventional earthwork and foundation construction activities.
  • Manage multiple projects and tasks within defined budgets, schedules, and deadlines.
  • Plan, schedule, and develop task and project budgets. Prepare progress reports, change orders, invoices, and project billings.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering;
    Master’s degree with Geotechnical emphasis (preferred).
  • Professional Engineer licensure.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related geotechnical experience; public utility experience is desired; at least 3 years of field experience with geotechnical investigations and construction observation including mass grading, deep foundations, subgrade for footings, ground improvement, and excavation support (tiebacks/tiedowns/soil nail installation and testing).
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training.
  • FEM analysis is preferred but not required.
  • Trenchless utility installation design experience (e.g., HDD) preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with analytical, multi-tasking, and judgment capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Professional demeanor with a strong technical foundation, practical field experience, and a desire to learn.
  • Position requires work Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Reliable transportation to access job sites or attend client meetings; valid driver’s license.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this role is $112,500 – $171,000. Compensation may vary based on experience, location, and credentials. This may include overtime eligibility and participation in the firm’s bonus and performance review program. Eligible employees may receive up to 20 days of paid vacation, 10 days of paid sick time, and 10 paid holidays per year, among other benefits.

The package also includes company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, 401(k)/Roth with company match, and educational reimbursement.
