Purpose

Bowman is seeking a talented Senior Landscape Architect / Project Manager to play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality design work and managing landscape architecture projects across the Tri-State area. This position will help strengthen and expand Bowman’s Landscape Architecture practice through exceptional project delivery, team leadership, and design excellence. Serving as a trusted partner to the Landscape Architecture lead, the Senior Landscape Architect / Project Manager will take ownership of projects, guide and review staff work, ensure technical excellence, and elevate design quality across the studio.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned designer and project manager who thrives in a collaborative, fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment and is motivated to make an immediate and meaningful impact on a growing practice. While business development experience and existing client relationships are welcomed, the primary focus of this role is design leadership, project management, and staff oversight. This position is responsible for executing assigned landscape projects through sound administrative, technical, and managerial practices to ensure successful, high‑quality, and timely completion within established budgets.

Responsibilities Leadership and Direction
  • Lead and manage projects across all phases, from conceptual design through construction administration.
  • Oversee staff work, provide direction, mentor team members, and perform QA/QC reviews.
  • Receive broad guidance from senior‑level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution. Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.
  • Supervise work of all project personnel to ensure that it meets the highest professional standards.
  • Provide mentorship through counsel, guidance, and knowledge to junior staff.
At the Operational and Company Level
  • Assist with the marketing of the firm’s capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients.
  • Coordinate with other internal departments to meet project requirements.
  • Drive the profitability and growth of projects.
  • Engage in business development and client marketing.
Do the Work
  • Manage and perform project development across a range of project types, including public spaces, multifamily residential and mixed‑use amenity areas, as well as provide design support to the civil team through planting, lighting, and site layout services for both large‑ and small‑scale land development projects. Serve as the primary day‑to‑day project manager, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Coordinate with in‑house engineers and multidisciplinary teams to produce cohesive, high‑quality deliverables.
  • Support proposal development and client meetings as needed; business development contributions are welcome but not required.
  • Research zoning, codes, and agency regulations; prepare and manage submission packages.
