Scope
The Construction Manager is responsible for all tasks related to construction projects and the supervision of general contractors to ensure the safe and timely execution of project tasks that meet client timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Responsibilities include vendor selection, on‑site management/field coordination, subcontractor management, OEM work, installers and integrators, and logistical material management.
Reports to: Director of Construction Services and Safety
Classification: Exempt
Hours: M‑F (may vary based on project needs)
- Plan, coordinate, organize, oversee, and direct activities regarding the design, construction, and/or maintenance of assigned projects (e.g., supervising the General Contractor, scheduling, quality checks, safety).
- Enter and track all project‑related data in a cloud‑based platform according to company standards, including office laptop and on‑site tablet data entry.
- Utilize reporting tools to meet daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
- Prepare project‑scoping documents to include cost estimates and communicate regularly with clients on progress and costs.
- Ensure contractor adherence to budget and change orders, and make quick adjustments when unexpected complications or issues arise.
- Ensure safety standards and guidelines are followed on the jobsite and that all safety codes are met.
- Collaborate with clients, supervisory staff, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve problems, including work procedures, complaints, and construction or design issues.
- Manage and lead actions that are necessary due to delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with a variety of people, including owners, managers, designers, supervisors, tradespeople, and craft workers.
- Attend client and team meetings as required.
- Complete site visits to ensure project milestones and schedules are being met.
- Maintain accurate and complete files for projects in accordance with company and customer standards.
- Knowledge of how cell sites are built; civil, steel, electrical, backhaul, RF, OEM equipment.
- Experience building various carrier site types, including material nomenclatures and purposes.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
- Knowledge of RF theory.
- Knowledge of test equipment and standards.
- Experience with tools and techniques associated with cell‑site construction.
- Knowledge of safety requirements and standards for cell towers and rooftops (OSHA‑10 or 30).
- Knowledge of industry standard budgets and costs for cell sites.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to cultivate customer relationships.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytic skills.
- Ability to thrive in both an independent atmosphere and a team environment.
- Technical coursework or equivalent experience in telecom site construction.
- OSHA‑10 or OSHA‑30 certification.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (travel between NJ and NY may be required).
- Able to climb several flights of stairs at a time.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to regularly work outside in occasional inclement weather conditions.
