SummaryProcesses requests for patient‑related forms/documents in a timely and accurate manner. Completes forms and submits for review by the clinician as warranted. Tracks the process of completed forms to ensure timely turn‑around and patient satisfaction. Performs various clerical duties supporting the clinical departments and processes and releases confidential medical record information as required. Safeguards and protects the patient's rights to privacy by ensuring only authorized individuals have access to the patient's medical information and that all released data complies with the request, authorizations, Metro Health System (MHS) policy, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy statutes.
Maintains department quality and productivity standards established for the role. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The Metro Health System.
- High School graduate or passage of a high school equivalency exam.
- Minimum of 1 year of medical office or medical records experience.
- Knowledge of Provider NPI & License numbers and e‑signatures.
- Familiar with medical record documents and electronic health records.
- Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently without close supervision in a team environment.
- Reliable transportation to travel to sites as needed.
- Ability to interact effectively with various cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Some college‑level course work to include courses in a health care related field.
- Two years of relevant experience in a physician's office, clinic or hospital business office, or health care customer service setting.
- Working knowledge of Epic Experience performing forms completion or release of medical record information.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Fluency in writing, speaking, and interpreting English and another designated foreign language.
May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day. May need to sit or stand for extended periods. See in the normal visual range with or without correction. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction. Finger dexterity to operate office equipment is required. May need to lift up to twenty‑five (25) pounds on occasion. Ability to communicate face‑to‑face, via phone, email, and other communications.
Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents.
