  • $84,058 - $108,617 (pro rata for partime) + caseload on call loading (currently 32%) + salary packaging + super + 6 weeks annual leave

About the team

Creating exceptional experiences is at the heart of everything we do for our patients and their families. Our Caseload Program currently includes a low-risk stream, a stream for Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander women, babies and families, as well as a stream for women/ families experiencing social inequity.

The Caseload Program is currently made up of 6 teams comprising of 4-5 midwives per team. In  the Caseload Program expanded to increase capacity and now includes an exciting homebirth option for eligible women.

We currently have 2 designated homebirth teams that care for patients who meet the eligibility criteria and have the desire to birth at home, whilst also providing care to families in the hospital.

About the role

To provide a high standard of midwifery care for women across the continuum of pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period, in consultation with other clinicians within the multidisciplinary team.

A regular day will see you:

  • Working in an on call capacity to provide patient care across the continuum for your allocated patients- 40 per year (pro rata for part time staff)
  • Role modelling the values of the Women’s and exemplifying patient-centred care
  • Respect the dignity, culture, values and beliefs of women and significant others in the provision of culturally sensitive midwifery care
  • Provide health education for women, families, and other family supports
  • Organising hours of work to suit the women in your caseload and yourself, and provide backup care for the women allocated to your team and homebirth
About you

You will be a motivated midwife with a passion for continuity of care, with a drive to develop advanced clinical skills/ experience and a commitment to provide outstanding midwifery support to women, babies and their families. Experience in an on-callcapacityand midwifery experience across the continuum will support your success in this role.

You’ll bring with you:

  • minimum 3 years experience in providing care across the continuum of midwifery care including routine antenatal visits, antenatal assessment and triage, intrapartum and postnatal care
  • capability to work with a high level of autonomy
  • Experience and interest in being a mentor within the organisation
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including communication, negotiation, advocacy and conflict resolution skills
  • An in-depth understanding of the social determinants of health
  • Experience in IVC insertion, applying Fetal Scalp Electrodes (FSE), Speculum examination and examination of the newborn
  • Perineal suturing and water birth experience (or a commitment to achieve within 6 months of commencement)
  • Home birth experience or willingness to develop confidence in homebirth.
