About the Pauline Gandel Women’s Imaging Centre

The Pauline Gandel Women’s Imaging Centre provides a progressive, multi-disciplinary 24-hour service for general adult, paediatric and neonatal radiology referrals, including general radiography and mammographic diagnostic and interventional procedures. Services include:

  • Advanced breast imaging
  • Contrast Enhanced digital mammography
  • Stereotactic breast biopsies
  • Interventional breast localisations (hook needle and magseed)
  • Neonatal cranial ultrasounds and neonatal hip ultrasound screening service
About the role

As a Senior Sonographer you will provide a comprehensive, clinically excellent ultrasound service to the women’s and neonates of the Women’s (inpatients and outpatients). You will contribute to building capacity within the team, coaching and leading to enhance safety, quality, efficiency and effectiveness of care, with a patient-centered, empathetic and professional approach.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and effective ultrasound service through the independent application of clinical expertise.
  • Provide advanced clinical, technical, and operational advice to radiologists and clinicians within the senior sonographer’s scope of competency.
  • Prioritise workload in accordance with hospital procedures and guidelines, patient condition, clinical urgency, and impact on management.
  • Provide high-level clinical supervision to the team and trainees as delegated/appropriate.
Qualifications and experience

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • Registration with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) without limitations.
  • Post-graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound from a recognised tertiary training institution.
  • At least two years of clinical ultrasound experience at a supervisory level.
  • Demonstrated performance excellence in patient- and family-centred care.
  • Demonstrated advanced clinical imaging knowledge and skills for complex ultrasound imaging of women and neonates.
