Position:
Youth Outreach Worker
Location: Oceanside
Hours: 35 hrs per week (permanent)
Salary: $27.54-$31.61 (Grid Level 11)
Start Date: As soon as possible
We are looking for a Youth Outreach Worker to join our Mental Health and Social Services team in Oceanside! This position will work with youth who are referred from MCFD Social Workers. Ideally, this person will have a strong knowledge of youth-related challenges, adolescent development, and excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Reporting to: Mental Health and Social Services Team Leader
General Responsibilities- Provides a safe environment for young people who are involved with the Ministry of Children and Family Development to access support.
- Supports youth in advocating for their basic needs and challenges they may be experiencing in school, with the justice system, housing, and other systems in the community.
- Participates in youth-based initiatives within SOURCES and in the Oceanside Community.
- Provides opportunities for youth to receive practical support around developing life skills, employment skills, social skills, and self-care strategies.
- Engages in Psycho-Education opportunities around healthy relationships, sexual health, and interpersonal skills.
- Completes assessments and develops service plans.
- Ensures the health and safety of youth clients, supporting youth around managing risks related to violence, substance use, abuse and/or suicide.
- Connects youth to specialized services to help manage identified risks (e.g., CYMH, Clinical Counselling, RCMP and MCFD).

- Mandatory: a diploma in Social Services (e.g., Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Criminology or Psychology). Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree. - Preferred:
At least two years' experience providing service to high-risk youth or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. - Mandatory:
Must have a valid class 5 Driver’s License. - Mandatory: a clear Criminal Records Check.
