Core duties and responsibilities

Works under general supervision, performs work in the installation, modification, remodel and repair of mechanical plumbing equipment and fixtures for water, gas, oil, steam, sewage, fire sprinkler/prevention, and refrigeration-related plumbing systems.

  • Responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance of all hospital plumbing systems. Maintains, troubleshoots, and tests plumbing systems; assembles, installs, and repairs pumps, pipes fittings, and fixtures; pump alignment, cut, thread and weld pipes; assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings and pipes.
  • Supervises general maintenance workers by allocating and coordinating work flow, training, and advising, in more complex plumbing repair work throughout the hospital.
  • Provides skilled preventive and corrective repair work throughout the hospital.
  • Has access to, and is responsible for, performing assigned duties in locked medication rooms. This position is aware that they are not responsible for medications and they should report any unsecured medications to a licensed professional.
  • Performs other maintenance duties as directed.
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

  • Successful completion of Mechanical Aptitude test required.
  • Valid driver s license.
  • West Virginia Plumber Certification.
  • Preferred Qualifications

    Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:

  • High School Diploma/GED.
