Position: VP Nursing / Chief Nursing Officer

This position provides leadership for the nursing and other professional staff within Patient Care Services to ensure consistent, high‑quality care delivery in a cost‑effective manner by following the ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance Standards and the Management Philosophy of the organization. It entails administrative responsibility and authority for the ongoing assessment of programs, policies, and procedures that define and dictate the provision of patient care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.
  • Graduate degree in Nursing, Education, Hospital Administration, Business Administration or a related field is required.
  • Membership in at least one professional organization is required.
  • Current West Virginia nursing license required.
  • EXPERIENCE
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive nursing management, knowledge, and clinical experience is required.
  • CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as a role model for patient care services and other areas of Camden Clark Medical Center.

  • Lead performance‑improvement and best‑practice initiatives, encouraging a "best of the best" mindset and creating a culture that celebrates positive patient and employee relations.
  • Work with the President, Senior Leadership, and the Medical Staff on the strategic planning process by integrating future nursing care trends with community healthcare needs; participate in development and implementation of hospital plans for nursing care.
  • Keep current with changes in public, legislative, and social policies that affect Nursing Services; provide analysis and recommendations to the President on policy positions.
  • Assist with the hospital’s building, remodeling, and physical expansion programs.
  • Collaborate with physicians to ensure standards for excellence in medicine and patient care are met; treat patients and employees fairly and with respect; meet physician needs positively and responsively.
  • Plan and implement services with the Medical Staff that meet community health needs; actively participate in Medical Staff Committees and provide administrative support and assistance.
  • Ensure effective, efficient, and economical patient care outcomes; lead initiatives to assess productivity and throughput to optimize resources.
  • Collaborate with related team members to develop recruitment and retention strategies that secure a qualified and stable workforce; continually assess staffing options creatively.
  • Develop budgets and support strategic and tactical plans in collaboration with Senior Management; facilitate office of the President in implementing strategic goals; participate in Board meetings providing reports as needed.
  • Seek opportunities to strengthen the organization’s mission, vision, and values; interface with internal and external affiliates and corporate services.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships in professional and civic communities; participate in community activities and professional organizations to promote services, programs, and the mission.
  • Foster trust and support from constituents to position the organization as the preferred quality provider in the region served.
  • Elevate the level of care to achieve competitive advantage; manage organizational relationships to build mutual trust and respect.
