Total annual compensation for this position is $65,400, consisting of a $53,400 base pay and a $12,000 housing stipend. Base pay is $2,053.85 biweekly. The annualized hourly rate is $25.68, and overtime is paid at $38.50 per hour.
What You Will DoNo two days are exactly the same in CDOT highway maintenance. Your daily work activities change based on project needs and may vary with weather, environment, and road conditions. You will be on‑call on a rotating basis and may be called to respond to weather or other emergencies. You will typically work as part of a team, led by a senior technician with multiple maintenance specialists.
Your main job activities include:
- Plowing snow
- Operating heavy equipment such as tandem dump trucks, loaders, and tractor‑mowers
- Maintaining vegetation (mowing grass and weeds)
- Removing debris from roadways and infrastructure (rocks, mud, debris, animal carcasses)
- Shoveling gravel, sand, concrete, and asphalt
- Digging ditches and excavating roadside features
- Installing and repairing guardrail, highway markers, signs, warning signs, and lighting
- Repairing potholes and roadway cracks
- Setting out traffic control signs and cones
- Removing and covering graffiti
- Installing pavement markings and striping
- Clear emergency traffic controls when needed
- Maintaining equipment and performing minor repairs
- Following safety guidance and wearing proper personal protective equipment

- Work in extreme temperatures (hot and cold), variable weather conditions, and elevations up to 12,000 feet for long periods
At least two (2) years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
