Job DescriptionAnticipate the needs of the surgeon and keep the circulating nurse informed throughout a procedure. Maintain high standards and quality in facilitating cost savings and containment. Assemble all necessary supplies, equipment, and medications prior to the procedure. Support customer and employee satisfaction activities; maintain good relationships with physicians, management, other departments, and staff; respond to complaints in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned.
Monitor aseptic technique of the entire surgical team and take immediate corrective action for any breaks in technique. Identify and report environmental concerns to management and ensure adherence to regulatory standards and policies.
Supervise other healthcare team members in the surgical environment and assist with orientation, training, and education of new personnel. Promote a safe environment and take appropriate action in emergency situations, controlling hazards that may endanger patients, visitors, and employees. Follow CDC isolation guidelines, use PPE appropriately, and perform hand washing according to policy, adhering to all infection control practices. Participate in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and support departmental quality standards and initiatives.
Provide assistance and support to members of the surgical team as needed. Assist the team with safe and efficient operating room turnover times and direct ancillary personnel during room turnover.
- High School Graduate or equivalent (Required)
- Technical/Vocational School
- Basic Life Support – CPR Cert (BLS) – RQI Resuscitation Quality Improvement
- State Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
- Technician in Surgery – Certified (NTSC) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
$24.45 – $45.46 per hour
