Job Description
Responsible for instructing scholars using the classical model of learning combined with data-driven decision-making. Create daily lesson plans, participate in ongoing professional training sessions, meet with Administration and the Professional Development team for instructional planning based on assessment data, and collaborate with grade level teams to plan and may also form common unit assessments. Reports to the Principal and works closely with the Vice Principal, Deans, and the Professional Development team.
Qualifications/MinimumRequirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and passing scores on the appropriate Colorado Educator Proficiency Assessments or a Colorado or other state Teaching Certificate. Preference is that applicants hold a Colorado Teaching Certificate.
- Valid Colorado Teaching Certification
- CBI Fingerprint Clearance / Background and Criminal History Clearance
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Working knowledge and understanding of Classical curricula and learning, or a willingness to learn the Classical model
- Working knowledge and understanding of Charlotte Mason’s educational philosophy and methodology, or willingness to learn
- Working knowledge and understanding of MAP Online Instructional Improvement and Instructional Effectiveness System w/ ATI, or willingness to learn
- Working knowledge and understanding of Galileo K-12 Online Instructional Improvement and Instructional Effectiveness System w/ ATI, or willingness to learn
- Working knowledge and understanding of the Saxon Math program, or willingness to gain understanding
- Working knowledge and understanding of the Shurley English language arts program, or willingness to learn
- Proven leadership ability promoting collaborative decision making
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong commitment to supporting and safeguarding classical education principles
- Working knowledge of pedagogy, instructional methodology, curriculum development
- Ability to manage conflict resolution with humility and service
- Working knowledge of Data-Driven Instruction or willingness to learn
- Ability to communicate effectively with scholars, parents, co-workers, vendors and build relationships
- Commitment to health and safety in a learning environment
- Ability to operate standard office equipment
- Ability to lift boxes and move them as required
- Establish and enforce rules for responsible behavior; maintain order among scholars
- Observe and evaluate scholars’ academic performance, behavior, and social development
- Prepare materials and instructional resources based on the classical model
- Adapt teaching methods to meet scholars’ varying needs
- Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program that engages scholars in rigorous content
- Instruct scholars using whole-class, small-group, and individual approaches with varied teaching techniques
- Collaborate with Special Education Instructor to support learning
- Provide assistive devices and supportive technology for disabled scholars as needed
- Prepare and implement ELL strategies under guidance
- Develop curriculum maps under guidance
- Establish clear objectives and communicate standards for lessons and projects
- Assign and grade work; maintain scholar data books
- Read books to classes or groups
- Prepare and analyze assessments to monitor progress
- Confer with parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators to resolve problems
- Maintain accurate scholar records in compliance with laws
- Encourage perseverance and exploration of learning opportunities
- Provide guidance for social and academic development
- Prepare and implement interventions for scholars needing extra help; teacher hours set to assist those struggling
