Position: Concession Clerk-Cultural (PT)

This position is responsible for performing a variety of general clerical/customer service duties to provide support for the Cultural Department patrons and employees. This position provides information and assistance to employees and the public at cultural concessions facilities according to established procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs cash handling duties to include payment reconciliation and check authorization.
  • Performs general concession duties such as taking orders and serving patrons, including alcoholic beverages.
  • Operates computer terminal using point of sales system.
  • Performs counter work, receives various forms and operates standard office and concession equipment.
  • Assists in the maintenance of supplies and inventories.
  • Maintains the overall appearance of the concession and storage area.
PERIPHERAL DUTIES
  • Performs general opening and closing procedures.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
DUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Must be 21 years of age with a high school diploma or GED. Current TIPS certification preferred but not required. Training opportunity will be provided.
Two (2) years of increasingly responsible related experience in customer service or related field is preferred but not required. A minimum of six months bartending experience is preferred but not required.
A combination of education and experience to provide the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.

NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures, prefer knowledge of any point of sales system.
  • Knowledge of customer relations techniques.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply basic mathematic principles.
  • Ability to effectively foster relationships with the public and to handle stressful situations.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions, and the ability to issue clear concise verbal and/or written instructions to patrons and other employees and report operations both verbally or in written form.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to concentrate on detail.
  • Ability to analyze situations thoroughly, identify potential problems and find effective solutions.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public in answering questions and handling difficult complaints.
  • Ability to perform general clerical work involving the use of independent judgment and personal initiative.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other departments, Town officials, outside agencies, and the public.
  • Ability to successfully implement philosophies, methods, policies, and procedures that will assist in the achievement of Town and Department goals.
  • The ability to work at any Cultural Department location and work evenings, weekends and holidays is required.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Computer, software packages, and small hand tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is consistently required to stand, frequently walk and occasionally sit. The employee is frequently required to talk, use hands and fingers, handle, feel or operate objects. On rare occasions, the employee may be required to climb and balance. The employee must occasionally lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds. The employee will occasionally kneel, crawl and reach with hands and arms.

Employee must communicate clearly and effectively; must understand and be understood. Must be able to consistently engage in ordinary and telephone conversations with speech and hearing. Employee must be able to consistently see with near and far acuity, depth perception, color and field vision. It is essential that the employee be physically able to operate a variety of computer and office equipment successfully in order to fulfill the essential functions of this position.

ENVIRONMENT AND GENERAL INFORMATION

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee generally works in a public assembly facility and occasionally works in outside conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and humid conditions, hot and/or cold conditions, or airborne particles.

Occasionally, the employee is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibrations. Occasionally, the employee will be required to work outside. The employee occasionally encounters fumes, odors, dusts and mists.
