Youth Services Department - Substitute

The Park Ridge Public Library Youth Services department seeks a part-time substitute to join our dynamic and creative team. The substitute position provides integral support to the Youth Services team through frontline desk service at both the Children’s and Teen desks. Ideal candidates enjoy working with children of all ages, can work a flexible schedule, and thrive in a high-energy environment.

• Answers patron questions and assists with general Library needs
• Provides reader’s advisory and assists patrons in locating and obtaining materials
• Actively supports and enforces Library policies and procedures
• May assist with library programs
• May assist with outreach opportunities in the community
• Other duties as assigned

• Knowledge of children’s literature and resources
• Demonstrated customer service skills
• Ability to use current technologies confidently and effectively
• Ability to work a flexible schedule

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push book carts, and handle library materials. May lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally sit on the floor during youth programs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
