Position: MARC SERVICES SPECIALIST

Job Summary

Marc Services Specialist at the Municipal Athletic and Recreation Center (MARC) is responsible for representing and maintaining the standards of the Recreation Department by providing information and assistance to customers and potential customers regarding all recreation programs and facilities and providing administrative assistance for all recreation and city programs in a professional manner. This is a full-time position that will work a Tuesday - Saturday schedule including occasional holidays.

Typical Duties
  • Responsible for greeting customers in a welcoming and professional manner; provides exceptional customer service in person and on the phone.
  • Prepares the facility for daily operations; helps maintain the MARC in a clean and neat fashion picking up lobby, locker rooms, random trash, wiping down counters and windows; restocks shelves and flyer kiosks, roams facility for areas that need attention.
  • Responsible for registering customers for classes and programs using registration software and issues proper receipts; accountable for collecting payments from customers for all registrations.
  • Responsible for completing shift checklists and proper paperwork, including daily reconciliations, and updating patron waivers.
  • Responsible for knowing all program information provided by Park City Recreation and conveying this to customers in a timely and professional manner; serves as a resource for part-time staff.
  • Assists all departments within the MARC with overflow work as requested.
  • Contact other City departments (IT, Building Maintenance, etc.) to resolve facility issues when necessary.
  • Responsible for knowing and following City policies such as Cash Handling, Email, and Internet policies.
  • Responsible for enforcing Recreation Center rules and policies.
  • Participates as part of the Recreation Team by engaging with co-workers and working towards the goal of exceptional customer service and a product that exceeds the community’s expectations.
  • Drive van on occasion to assist with recreation programs as needed.
  • Assists departments within the MARC and Recreation with overflow work, provided the individual is qualified and has received approval from the Division Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have a high diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in customer service and cash handling.
  • Physical ability to patrol the gym facility daily, move gym equipment as necessary, and assist with recreation programs and classes when needed, including the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Knowledge of customer service practices and general computer programs; including the ability to learn programs including but not limited to, Microsoft Word and Outlook as well as basic accounting and applicable applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid/AED certifications.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
Working Conditions
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds while making daily rounds of the facility, relocating equipment to the proper locations, and assisting with programs, classes, and special projects. This also includes a variety of continuous sitting, standing, bending and crouching.
  • Work is generally performed in a climate-controlled recreation facility, but does require some work outdoors while assisting with programs and events.

    Regular requirements to conduct patrols to ensure patron safety, rules compliance, proper equipment safekeeping and storage, and to be able to respond to any concerns regarding patron behavior or facility issues.
  • Occasional exposure to stressful situations while working with community members.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, with some exposure to due to loud music and fitness equipment.
  • Non-traditional working hours requiring flexibility which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
