Position SummaryThe Director of Accounting and Administration is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions across the organization, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial reporting. This role provides strategic leadership in developing and maintaining accounting policies, internal controls, and financial systems to support the company’s growth, operational and compliance goals.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP, across a largely decentralized accounting team operating across multiple states and British Columbia.
- Manage external audits and coordinate with auditors to ensure smooth and compliant processes.
- Manage organization tax returns and support shareholder tax reporting requirements in collaboration with external tax accountants.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting standards and Net Suite ERP and implement necessary policy and system updates.
- Serve as company Treasurer, execute cash management requirements as directed by the CFO and CEO.
- Provide leadership and guidance to accounting operations to ensure consistent and compliant accounting practices including A/P, A/R, payroll, fixed assets, and general ledger.
- Complete parent company account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes.
- Administer the organization’s ERP, including managing the company’s chart of accounts, entity structure, and intercompany transactions.
- Complete A/P and payroll process for the Executive Office.
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff across multiple locations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Collaborate in subsidiary cash flow management, balancing liquidity sources and uses across multiple banking environments.
- Support acquisitions, integrations, and system implementations.
- Participate in insurance administration and sourcing, including compiling annual renewals and audits materials.
- Oversee general corporate administration ensuring uninterrupted and compliant operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA designation strongly preferred.
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration a plus.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership of multi-entity or multi-location operations.
- Proven experience managing a team and implementing scalable accounting systems and controls.
- Experience in multi-unit operations and the hospitality industry preferred.
- Deep understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, Net Suite, Workday Adaptive Planning preferred.
