This is an in person position that will report to offices either in Park City, UT or Del Mar, CA.
SummaryJMI Sports is seeking a senior Human Resources leader to serve as a hands‑on partner to company leadership and a core member of our operations team. This role blends strategic leadership with direct execution and is ideal for an HR professional who values ownership and impact over team size. This position holds end‑to‑end responsibility for HR, payroll, benefits, compliance monitoring and employment documentation, with responsibility for both strategic development and hands‑on execution.
The hire will participate in leadership‑level planning and decision‑making while personally overseeing day‑to‑day HR operations. A successful candidate will be comfortable taking direction, identifying improvements, and then implementing those changes independently. This role requires a broad and practical HR background, strong judgment, and exceptional attention to detail. The right candidate thrives in a fast‑moving environment, manages competing priorities with accuracy, and stays current on evolving employment laws and practices across multiple states.

- Serving as the primary owner and point of accountability for all human resources, payroll, and benefits functions
- Executing end‑to‑end onboarding and offboarding processes, including orientation, training coordination, and entry and exit interviews
- Preparing and processing semi‑monthly payroll and monthly incentive calculations, and managing payroll platforms and data accuracy
- Administering employee benefits programs, including enrollments and updates, carrier communications, COBRA administration, and annual open enrollment
- Reconciling payroll‑ and benefits‑related billing and managing ongoing vendor and carrier relationships
- Maintaining employee records and HR data with a focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance
- Managing compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states, including workers’ compensation, sick time, leave programs, required postings, and personnel records
- Monitoring changes in employment laws and implementing policy, process, and documentation updates as needed
- Drafting, maintaining, and annually reviewing employee policies and handbooks to align with legal requirements and company operations
- Serving as a confidential resource for employee relations matters, workplace concerns, and employee questions
- Advising leadership and managers on performance management, corrective actions, and employee documentation, including performance improvement plans
- Supporting performance review cycles, goal‑setting processes, and related documentation
- Drafting job descriptions, offer letters, and employment documentation, and supporting recruiting and hiring processes, including pre‑employment compliance
- Managing internship programs and ensuring compliance with applicable requirements
- Administering employee leave programs and workplace accommodations in accordance with applicable laws and company policies
- Supporting employee‑centric programs, including education, training, engagement initiatives, events, and internal communications
- Researching and developing HR policies and compliance requirements for new operations in previously unestablished states
- Coordinating with internal teams and external partners to support audits, budgeting and forecasting, business licensing, and workforce planning
