Salary: $141,000 -$149,000 Base + Bonus
Position SummaryThe Regulatory Manager in the oil and gas industry is responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance and managing relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry associations. This role involves interpreting and implementing regulations, obtaining permits and approvals, and ensuring compliance with environmental, health, safety, and operational regulations to support the organization's business objectives.
Key responsibilities and AccountabilitiesThe Regulatory Manager will serve as an integral member of the Health, Environmental and Safety team with responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:
- Monitor regulatory developments, changes, and updates related to environmental, health, safety, and operational regulations impacting the oil and gas industry.
- Interpret regulations and standards, assess their impact on company operations, and develop strategies and action plans to ensure compliance.
- Manage the permitting process for oil and gas exploration, development, and production activities, including the preparation, submission, and tracking of permit applications.
- Coordinate with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to obtain permits, approvals, and regulatory clearances in a timely and efficient manner.
- Travel as necessary to visit oilfields, company headquarters, and regulatory offices, located in California, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, and New Mexico.
- Develop and implement environmental management programs and initiatives to minimize the environmental footprint of company operations, including air emissions, water discharges, and waste management.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments, risk assessments, and remediation activities as needed to address environmental issues and concerns.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, standards, and best practices to protect the health and safety of employees, contractors, and communities.
- Implement safety management systems, policies, and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and occupational hazards in the workplace.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports, filings, and disclosures required by government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and compliance documentation to demonstrate regulatory compliance and adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Build and maintain relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, industry associations, and other stakeholders to stay informed of regulatory developments and advocate for the organization's interests.
- Represent the organization in regulatory proceedings, meetings, and consultations, providing input and feedback on regulatory proposals and initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in regulatory affairs, environmental compliance, or related roles in the oil and gas industry.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local regulations, laws, and standards applicable to the oil and gas industry, including environmental, health, safety, and operational regulations.
- Experience with permitting processes, regulatory compliance management, and environmental management systems (EMS) (e.g., Ecesis).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and develop practical solutions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with government agencies, regulatory bodies, industry stakeholders, and internal teams.
- Leadership and project management skills, with the ability to lead regulatory compliance initiatives, coordinate cross-functional teams, and manage regulatory projects effectively.
