Overview
Job Purpose: To set up and administer medications under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Nurse, and to function as a Certified Nursing Aide (CNA).
Responsibilities- Medication Administration Functions: Prepares, administers, and documents medications following accepted practices, and in accordance with regulations under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Nurse.
- Personal Care, Nursing Care, and Food Service Functions: Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, changing bed linens, and positioning in and out of bed or chair. Assist with resident recreation programs. Prepare residents for meals and snacks. Assist residents in eating where needed, and record food intake.
- Reads and follows daily care plans; performs assigned restorative and rehabilitative procedures; reports changes in resident condition to Nurse in charge; documents care provision on resident records/flow sheets as required; reports accidents and incidents; provides nursing functions as directed by supervisor.
- Safety, Sanitation and Infection Control: Understands and follows safety, sanitation and infection control policy and procedures, including proper hand washing, proper wearing of masks and gloves; promptly reports any violations to supervisor.

Education:
Attend orientation and in-service as required by the state. Complete all required online education as deemed necessary by the state and the facility. - Resident Rights and Relationships: Understands, complies with, and promotes all rules regarding residents’ rights. Promote positive relationships with residents, visitors and regulators; present a professional appearance and attitude.

Support Function: Assist in admission, transfer and discharge of residents. - Staff Development: Attend and participate in training, educational activities and staff meetings; assist with orientation and training of other staff.

- Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without the aid of mechanical devices): Works in a climate-controlled and well-lighted environment. Works in an office and throughout the building daily.
May have risk of exposure to infectious diseases; receives training in handwashing practices and Universal Precautions and has access to personal protective equipment when direct exposure is anticipated. May involve interruptions, noise, and odors.
Walking, reaching, climbing, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling; ability to distinguish smells, tastes and temperatures; ability to communicate with residents and employees; ability to understand and follow training; ability to instruct staff in service education; and ability to remain calm under stress.
- Must be a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) and a Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) in good standing with the State.
- Must have ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
- Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with other associates.
- Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
- Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
