Job Summary
PRN
A Physical Therapy Assistant is someone who provides coordinated physical therapy to patients of all age groups under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. This position will promote patients' potential during their home health episode and collaborates with physician, clinical team and patient in preparation for discharge.
Essential functions- Provides services that are ordered by the physician as indicated in the plan of care, as developed, delegated, and supervised by the physical therapist. Notifies supervisor of changes in patient status or untoward patient responses. Completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
- Administers non-complex active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, traction, heat, light, cold, water, and electrical modalities to patients. Discontinues any treatment which in their judgment is harmful to the patient.
- Applies concepts of infection control and standard precautions in performing patient care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
- Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients.
- Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to provide patient and caregiver education.
- Meets mandatory continuing education requirements.
- Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third-party payors, through education, coaching, and other assistance, as necessary.
- Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.
- Participates in the Agency’s QAPI program.
- Participates in the Agency sponsored in-service training.
- Graduate of an accredited school of physical therapist assistant with an associate level degree in Physical Therapist Assistant.
- Active, state license as a physical therapist assistant.
- One year of experience as a physical therapist assistant, preferred.
- Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Proof of current CPR certification.
- Reliable transportation and valid auto liability insurance.
- Current driver’s license
