Position Summary

The Business Development Officer is responsible for developing and managing new and existing business relationships, servicing deposit operations, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. This role builds and manages key business deposit and treasury management services, identifies sales opportunities, and delivers products and services with exceptional customer service. The position also enhances the visibility of the bank in the community and contributes to the bank’s income and loan objectives.

Duties

And Responsibilities
  • Develop new business through effective calling techniques and networking with centers of influence. Works closely with internal partners including President/CEO, lenders, Retail Banking Officer and Holding Company team members to close deals and manage client onboarding.
  • Attend networking, charity, and corporate functions for prospecting and relationship building.
  • Assist with account opening/maintenance, document preparation, online banking/cash management for business and individual customers.
  • Originate and expand depository relationships, small business loans, and personal relationships.
  • Promote the Bank’s products and services to help clients and prospective clients meet their financial goals.
  • Represent the bank in civic and community functions and participate in community events/trade shows.
  • Project Manager for BGF with Treasury Management.
  • Submit reports to President & CEO on business development activities.
  • Lead and participate in branch sales promotion campaigns and customer calling programs.
  • Engage customers in meaningful conversations to determine needs and assist with appropriate bank products/services.
  • Thoroughly reviews available information to assess creditworthiness of potential new business customers- analyzes financial statements, performs due diligence and assist in the loan underwriting process.
  • Cross-sell bank products/services, mortgage, and business banking referrals.
  • Serve as primary deposit customer relations representative, resolve complaints, approve transactions, and respond to inquiries.
  • Participates in various community boards/committees as needed and directed.
  • Keeps up to date and complies with all bank policies/procedures as well as applicable banking laws and regulations, including, but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and related anti-money laundering statutes, and federal consumer protection legislation and regulations.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in sales/client service in the banking or financial services industry is required.
  • Experience in retail banking is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of banking laws, regulations, and guidelines is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
  • Experience with Loan Origination Software, Cleartouch, OnBase, and various government/investor software/web portals is preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required;
    Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • NMLS Number is required.
  • Supervisory and/or mentoring experience is preferred.
  • Notary is preferred.

Physical Environment
  • Regularly required to lift, walk, stand, sit, bend, reach, climb, push/pull, use hands, see, hear, and speak.

  • Office setting; able to work days/hours branch offices are open, overtime as required, and be on call for emergencies.
