Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25 inpatient beds located in Paris, IL, with outpatient clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. We have been serving residents of Edgar County since 1968 through community education, emergency services, and outpatient care.
Pay Range$15.25/hr - $20.98/hr
Position SummaryThe Registration Representative is the first touchpoint of the revenue cycle. They are responsible for scheduling patients with a provider in the computer system, welcoming guests and patients, and obtaining accurate demographic and insurance information. They register information into the computer system, direct traffic flow, and maintain communication between clinicians, patients, and other staff. They communicate with and assist in the direct care of patients and families, ensuring the timely flow of patients and assisting medical providers to deliver optimal care to patients of all age groups, including those who are physically or mentally challenged.
The role may include rooming patients, assessing vital signs, and performing point-of-care testing as directed by medical providers.
- Receives patients and visitors in a friendly, timely fashion.
- Ascertains needs and directs patients and visitors accordingly.
- Registers the patient in the practice bookkeeping system and collects required information.
- Documents accurately, legibly, and completely in the clinic record and completes forms and requisitions as indicated.
- Updates patient demographics and insurance information on every patient.
- Maintains patient confidentiality during all phases of registration and discharge.
- Uses the practice computer system for scheduling patient appointments.
- Answers the telephone promptly, communicates appropriate information, and takes messages accurately.
- Directs patient and visitor traffic flow as necessary.
- Understands physician scheduling needs and uses judgment in scheduling patients appropriately.
- Promotes a high standard of hospitality and positive public relations with all visitors and patients.
- Works as part of the healthcare team and demonstrates relevant technical skills.
- Documents on the clinical record and completes forms and requisitions as indicated.
- Enters, retrieves, and prints computerized information; maintains computer skills to meet job requirements.
- Obtains specimens and complies with appropriate handling guidelines.
- Demonstrates good customer service and maintains a friendly, caring attitude toward patients and families.
- Maintains good rapport with co-workers and medical providers to foster a positive work environment.
- Develops a collaborative relationship with coworkers and medical providers as part of the patient’s medical team.
- High School Diploma
- Experience in a customer service environment is preferred
- Basic computer skills; interest in healthcare
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to work variable hours
- Ability to perform complex and multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, with interruptions and stress in an organized and timely fashion
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) required; maintain current state CNA certification

Hours:
66 hours every 2 weeks;
Monday–Friday 8:45 am–7:15 pm;
Sat/Sun 7:45 am–4:15 pm (rotating weekends and holidays)
