RN EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT - PRN at Horizon Health

Base pay range: $27.47/hr - $44.00/hr

Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprising 25 inpatient beds with outpatient clinics in Paris, IL. We have served Edgar County since 1968 through community education, emergency services, and outpatient care. As we expand our services and locations, our community support remains strong.

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care of the patients assigned to him/her during a given period of time. The RN functions under minimal supervision and according to established policies, procedures, and professional nursing standards. The RN performs other assignments as required.

• Correctly triages, assigns triage category, and recognizes life threatening situations immediately.
• Prioritizes patient care according to severity of presenting complaint.
• Identifies and communicates unusual or abnormal assessments of patient care problems to the Coordinator/Manager.
• Safely and accurately administers all medications within the acceptable limits of professional judgment according to policy.
• Demonstrates appropriate skills for patients requiring resuscitation for cardiac and/or respiratory arrest.
• Sets up monitoring, pacing and defibrillation when appropriate.
• Demonstrates appropriate medication management skills for patients requiring cardiac pacing, cardioversion, or artificial ventilatory assistance.
• Sets up for emergency procedures such as lumbar puncture, chest tubes and arterial lines.
• Sets up ventilatory assistive devices, BIPAP/CPAP and Ventilator.
• Monitors and correctly interprets rhythm strips; reports changes to the physician as appropriate.
• Functions as Team Leader in a Code Blue situation.
• Maintains proficiency in use of the Electronic Health Record.

The responsibilities listed above are not all-inclusive; other activities may be required in support of the hospital’s goals and objectives.

• Graduate from an associate degree, baccalaureate degree, or diploma school of nursing.
• Current RN licensure in the state of Illinois.
• Have and maintain certification in BLS, ACLS and PALS.
• Will obtain and maintain ITLS/TNCC/TNS within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum of three years’ experience preferred.

Pay ranges from $27.473/hour to $43.997/hour (rate of pay is based on applicable years of experience).

PRN, day and night availability.
