Security Guard - Retail Patrol in Paramus, NJ is a role that serves and safeguards clients in industries such as Retail/Malls and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a busy retail and mall location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help discourage security-related incidents. You will support guests and tenants with professional communication, document observations using basic computer and/or tablet tools, and partner with site teams to resolve concerns.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout the retail property, common areas, parking areas, loading zones and perimeter, as directed by post orders. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.
  • Control access to restricted areas and help to deter unauthorized entry, trespassing and/or disruptive activity within the mall location.
  • Observe and report suspicious activity, policy violations and/or hazards, and promptly communicate issues to site leadership and Allied Universal management.
  • Assist with crowd management during peak shopping hours, promotions and/or special events, helping maintain orderly foot traffic and customer flow.
  • Support retail tenants by responding to calls for service, documenting incidents and coordinating with property management as needed.
  • Complete detailed shift activity reports, incident reports and patrol logs in accordance with site requirements.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms and/or other property systems when assigned, and report irregularities per site procedures.
  • Interact professionally with shoppers, tenants, contractors and delivery personnel, providing directions and general assistance while maintaining a professional presence.
  • Respond to medical situations, lost child reports and/or other customer service incidents, and coordinate with emergency responders when appropriate.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance and follow all Allied Universal standards, licensing requirements and post-specific instructions.
Minimum Requirements
  • Have at least 1 year of security experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be comfortable using a computer and/or tablet, preferred.
  • Have a guard card and/or license, preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
