Overview

The AMAA is a religious charitable non-profit headquartered in the United States (Paramus, NJ). Our purpose is to serve the physical and spiritual needs of people everywhere, both at home and overseas. To fulfill this worldwide mission, AMAA maintains a range of educational, evangelistic, relief, social service, church and child care ministries in 23 countries around the world.

The Director of Development (DoD) will lead AMAA's fundraising strategy, aligning efforts with its Christian mission of evangelism, education, and humanitarianism. This role will focus on securing sustainable financial support that advances the mission and long-term health of the organization.

The Director of Development will strategize and implement initiatives that fuel the AMAA’s charitable income goals by working closely with the CEO/Executive Director, Development Committee, AMAA Armenia Representative and AMAA Representative in Canada & Global Field Director and other pertinent committees.

The Director of Development will work with various stakeholders [Board of Directors, Armenian Evangelical Unions, Partner NGOs, affiliate Church reps]. The DoD is integral to fostering long-term success and impact for the AMAA through its efforts in fundraising, strategic planning, and community engagement.

The Director of Development should be familiar with the history and culture of Armenia, the Armenian Diaspora, and have an understanding of and appreciation for the Christian, evangelical mission at the core of the AMAA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute, in coordination with Marketing, an annual development plan, including goals for individual giving, endowment development, and other related solicitations (gifts, capital campaigns, grants, events, and digital outreach).
  • Develop planned giving programs (bequests, endowments, legacy gifts).
  • Partner with leadership on high-level donor engagement.
  • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities and revenue streams.
  • Monitor, analyze and produce timely reports to CEO/Executive Director and Development Committee on fundraising data and activities, to evaluate campaign, event and appeal performance, and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Coordinate with volunteers and other committees conducting fundraising activities.
  • Lead and mentor development staff.
  • Establish best practices and ethical fundraising standards.
  • Oversee grant proposals; maintain contact and oversee follow-up to completion; provide subsequent reporting when required.
  • Oversee preparation and production of all fundraising related literature, promotional and direct mailings components, as well as all internet-based communications, ensuring alignment with AMAA’s faith-based values in all communications.
  • Oversee department budget and donor database/CRM.
  • Assist in completing performance appraisals of Events Outreach Manager and Marketing and Communications Manager.
  • Analyze and recommend improvements to AMAA program efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and ethical standards in fundraising practices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, Advanced degree or Certified Fund-Raising Executive Certification (CFRE) preferred
  • Proven success soliciting major gifts
  • Familiarity with planned giving vehicles
  • Proven success soliciting foundation, government, and corporate donors
  • Proven ability to organize, establish objectives and priorities and achieve goals
  • Development staff management experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities
  • Superb written, verbal, computer and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of Armenian a plus
