Responsibilities- Review daily, weekly, monthly quality control records. Follow through with corrective action plan. Maintain QC records according to regulatory requirements including calibration and linearity. Notify the supervisor for any abnormal findings with documented corrective actions.
- Initiate Quality Assurance process (gather data/ QA form) and endorse supervisors.
- Help gather QA data as required by supervisors.
- Support training & initial competency of new hires.
- Rearrange bench schedule in an event of sick calls or in the absence of direct supervisor.
- Notify Lab Supervisor or Lab Manager immediately of instrumentation problems. Continue working with Manufacturer for troubleshooting and resolving issue. Help staff with trouble‑shooting if needed.
- Receive clinical specimens, process and aliquot them appropriately for each workstation. Store for a limited time or discard completed specimens following designated workstation protocols. Rotate through all workstations on routine basis.
- Draw blood samples from inpatients and outpatients as needed by the laboratory.
- Monitor computerized log entries of specimens received. Monitor pending logs daily. Resolve pending issues efficiently, thoroughly and accurately in a timely manner. Inform management for persistent issues with personnel or .
- Prepare standards, controls and reagents according to established formulas and procedures. Document and review logs of reagents from receiving date to end of use or expiration date. Assure that all supplies are accurately labeled at all times and expired supplies are removed from inventory in a timely manner. Notify supervisors of impending shortages of supplies as necessary to keep materials at adequate inventory levels.
- Follow the written protocols for the automated instrumentation at each workstation. This encompasses the entire operation of each instrument including maintenance, start‑up, operation, data entry, verification of results, quality control, shut down/start up, etc.
- Maintain required manual records, reports and statistics as directed in the workstation manual; maintain workstation equipment maintenance and service logs accurate and complete at all times.
- Call critical results to nursing units according to the critical report policy and document into laboratory information system.
- Follow established departmental policies and procedures. Maintain quality control, maintenance, safety, environmental and infection control standards and records.
- Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience, and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.

- Supervise and coordinate the work activities of phlebotomist.
- Participate in mandated annual educational programs and in‑service meetings.
- Respond to inquiries from nursing units, emergency room, etc. regarding test results as needed.
- Assume duties and responsibilities of shift's lead technologist as scheduled.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization.
- Basic data entry skills preferred.
