Job Duties
  • Patient care responsibilities delivered with knowledge of patient growth and development appropriate to the ages of the patients served.
  • Schedule appointments for patients, enter into the computer, maintain clinic appointment book, prepare appointment forms for special clinics.
  • Review patient schedule for the day, assemble necessary patient charts, assure smooth flow of patients through the office and/or examining rooms.
  • Answer patient questions, give instructions to reduce anxiety and fear, direct patient to appropriate source for problem solving.
  • Collect specimens from patients, perform procedures in accordance with protocols (e.g., EKGs, taking urine samples), enter results in computer.
  • Administer intramuscular medications.
  • Administer tuberculin skin testing (PPD).
  • Perform necessary clerical functions to assure physician orders are carried out, including filling out requests for lab tests and arranging for specimens to be picked up.
  • Ensure examining rooms and procedures are fully equipped and stocked each day; neat rooms between procedures; dispose of trash, needles, and sharp items in appropriate containers.
  • Ensure appropriate equipment available for procedures and properly set up; report equipment problems to appropriate individual or department.
  • Clean and sterilize equipment as appropriate; return equipment to proper storage areas.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of equipment and medical and office supplies, reorder as necessary.
  • Accompany physician into the patient examination room to transcribe a history and physical exam, and document accurately the physician’s encounter with the patient and others present.
  • List all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow‑up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the physician.
  • Transcribe patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications, etc., as dictated by the physician.
  • Document any procedures performed by the physician, dictated by the physician.
  • Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Customer Service: respond with respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience, and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with Customer Service Performance expectations.
  • Be familiar with the Medical Center’s Mission, Vision, and Values Statements.
  • Understand and adhere to the Medical Center’s Code of Conduct.
Other Duties

All other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications
  • New graduates with registration or certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • One to two years of experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Typing: 25 WPM.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Speaks, reads, and writes English to the extent required by the position; knowledge of a second language preferred.
Education
  • High school graduation or equivalent required; one to two years of college preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program;
    Certified or Registered as a Medical Assistant required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification required.
Salary

22.28–26.52 US$. Differential 1.00 for evening & weekend.
