The Elementary School Principal will provide leadership in overseeing the daily operations of the school, including setting and implementing educational goals, managing staff, and ensuring a safe, inclusive environment for students and employees. Responsibilities also include curriculum development, performance evaluation, and fostering partnerships with parents and the local community to support student success. The Principal will collaborate with teachers and staff to maintain high academic standards and provide educational leadership aligned with the district's mission.
Employment
Terms:
Twelve-month year; tenure-track position
Full-time; eligible for health insurance benefits
Terms and conditions of employment to be specified in the negotiated Agreement between the Board of Education and the Paramus Association of School Principals.
Reports To:
Superintendent and/or Assistant Superintendent
Qualifications:
1. Master's Degree in Educational Administration and/or specific content area
2. New Jersey Principal Certification
3. Experience as a successful supervisor/administrator
4. At least five consecutive years of successful teaching experience
Salary Range:$157,500 - $167,500
Responsibilities:
* Administers the school and its instructional program in all its facets.
* Interprets and implements Board policies and administrative regulations.
* Manages the school in accordance with Board policies and administrative regulations, budget limitations, and employee and other contracts.
* Promotes positive action toward the realization of school objectives through efficient procedures, extra-curricular programs, and the establishment of staff, student, and community committees.
* Prepares and submits monthly Principal Report for Superintendent.
* Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluation of the school's professional and other assigned staff.
* Develops methods for evaluating student progress toward stated educational objectives.
* Directly involved with evaluating building/program progress toward stated educational objectives.
* Directs and implements all required, standardized assessments.
* Directs and implements the evaluation process for certificated and non-certificated staff members in accordance with district guidelines.
* Establishes guides for proper student conduct and maintaining student discipline.
* Consults regularly with and coordinates the services of the resource personnel so that all classroom teachers may receive effective assistance.
* Utilizes all resources of the school system and the community in developing the most effective educational program.
* Assumes the responsibility for preparation of a school budget which reflects individual school and district-wide goals.
* Establishes and maintains an effective learning and working climate within the school building, and motivates staff and students to participate successfully in the learning process.
* Maintains close contact with all interested parties, including students, school staff, parents, and the community.
* Attends all school related events/activities and community events as deemed appropriate.
* Communicates regularly with stakeholder groups (parents/staff) through a variety of written and electronic media (website, newsletter, email, etc.).
* Acts as a liaison between the school and the community, interpreting activities and policies of the school, and encouraging community participation in school life.
* Develops a program of public relations in order to further the community's understanding and support of the educational program.
* Participates in curriculum review and development activities.
* Approves the master teaching schedule and room assignments.
* Develops and maintains a master schedule/calendar for the academic and co-curricular programs and works with Building and Grounds Supervisor to schedule building use.
* Responsible for developing and implementing building level professional development through building faculty meetings.
* Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
* Delegates appropriate responsibilities and authority to vice-principal(s) and/or supervisors.
* Assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent as required.
Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
