Fresh Department Clerk - Store #17 Part‑Time

Northgate Market invites applicants to join our Fresh Department Clerk for a part‑time position.

• Observe all store rules and company policies.
• Adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations and relevant weight and measure laws.
• Package, weigh and price all products processed in the department; follow approved procedures for weighing, wrapping, price marking and restocking cases to ensure quality protection, accuracy and product rotation.
• Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods.
• Keep perishable merchandise rotated in accordance with department policy and product code dates; pull all out‑of‑code merchandise following FIFO rules.
• Greet all customers and maintain good customer relations by providing prompt and courteous service and assistance.
• Wait on customers including slicing, cutting, weighing, packaging and labeling merchandise.
• Use and maintain equipment in good working order; immediately advise store director or key person in charge of any maintenance or equipment problems.
• Comply with safety policies and procedures; read all Safety Committee bulletins.
• Perform any other work‑related duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; apprenticeship/training program acceptable.
• Ability to hear, speak and understand English in order to respond promptly to customer requests and communicate effectively with others.
• Ability to read, write, analyze, interpret and understand written instructions for operating electronic equipment and tools; company handbooks, policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of all types of meat products sold in the department, including recommended uses or cooking methods and store/department procedures, policies and operations.
• Physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds; climb ladders; sweep, mop and lift trash containers.
• Experience in a supermarket meat department or related retail environment desired.
• Source‑to‑vendor, equity, HR, recruiting or similar background is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds carrying cartons of poultry, cases of meat products, deli merchandise, etc.; be able to climb a ladder to retrieve items stored in overhead racks such as trays and wrapping material; be able to sweep and mop floors and lift and carry out trash containers to be emptied in an outside bin.

• Sit, stand, and use the hands repeatedly for tasks such as handling, feeling, or manipulating objects.
• Work in refrigerated environments (20°F or below) and in humid or wet conditions.
• Noise level moderate to high; may experience extreme noise when checking refrigeration equipment or working with power tools.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple customer requests simultaneously.
