Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leadership
  • Ensure all associates receive training in store procedures and functions.
  • Maintain a positive work environment and treat all associates fairly.
  • Model company values and superior customer service.
  • Meet department Voice of the Customer / SMG standards.
  • Recruit, select, onboard, coach, and develop associates to achieve store and company goals.
  • Set clear performance expectations and conduct timely performance evaluations and compensation reviews.
Operations
  • Comply with all local, state and federal regulations (e.g., weight & measures, COOL).
  • Follow receiving procedures to ensure product quality and rotation.
  • Accurately record inventory levels to maximize sales and profit.
  • Enforce merchandising standards and control loss tracking.
  • Manage vendor relationships to maintain service and inventory levels.
  • Ensure accurate retail pricing on scale labels and price tags.
  • Maintain inventory control for product freshness, quality and ROI.
  • Control utilities use and manage supplies inventory and expenses.
  • Lead proper cleaning routines at shift end in accordance with company procedures.
  • Provide prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Execute department programs to meet customer service, productivity and meat case presentation targets.
  • Maintain housekeeping and sanitation standards per health regulations.
  • Implement merchandising plans (schematics, new items, promotions).
  • Ensure all meat cuts are properly trimmed and displayed.
  • Require associates to use correct PLU codes for product trays per regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Safety
  • Inspect and maintain equipment, reporting maintenance issues promptly.
  • Enforce company safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in store safety committee.
  • Report safety violations requiring disciplinary action.
  • Meet Northgate and county safety standards for food handling.
  • Conduct daily safety observations.
  • Train on all departmental safety regulations and Axonify participation.
  • Adhere to recipe guideline training.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of meat department operations experience required.
  • Current meat cutter position required.
  • Must be able to relocate within 20 miles of store location.
Certificates / Licenses
  • Food Handlers Certification

Skills Required
  • Ability to calculate discounts, gross margins, markup, percentages, ratios, and volumes; apply basic algebra.
  • Verify vendor invoice charges and counts; complete required accounting reports.
  • Good listening and communication skills.
  • Fluent English to provide high‑level customer service.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
  • Regularly sit, stand and use hands for handling, finger or feel tasks.
  • Occasionally lift or exert up to 80 pounds.
  • Climb ladders to retrieve overhead items and respond quickly to emergencies.
  • Disassemble and clean meat department equipment.
  • Work continuously in refrigerated environments; endure temperatures as low as 20°F for up to 40 minutes (with breaks).
  • Moderate to high noise levels during compressor or power tool use.
