The Die maintenance Helper assists in operating overhead cranes and tooling set‑ups. The Helper will learn essential skills to support our forging operations and assist in equipment maintenance for the press. As a result, the Helper will gain basic understanding of die heating furnaces, wheel setups, and the use of an overhead crane.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES- Follow direction of the acting supervisor, lead man, and/or supervisor
- Maintain clean and safe working environment; embrace a clean as you go policy.
- Load and unload dies from die heating furnaces in accordance with WM best practices.
- Assist in the wheel tool set ups.
- Learn the basic skills of a helper position which include but are not limited to:
- Operate a forklift, manipulator, overhead crane under supervision.
- Operate tools such as hand grinders, wheel grinders, impact wrenches, sledgehammers, etc.
- Properly clean and protect dies to prevent corroded dies.
- Fix air and gas hoses.
- Basic understanding of specialized equipment such as presses, furnaces, etc.
- Basic understanding of die/insert holder and press setups.
- Understanding of shopfloor instructions.
- Understanding best practices of material handling.
- Demonstrating importance of the Weber Metals Safety Policy to the success of Weber Metals.
- Demonstrating importance of the Weber Metals Quality Policy to the success of Weber Metals.
- Demonstrating knowledge and awareness of the Weber Metals Environmental Policy.
- Demonstrating knowledge and awareness of the Weber Metals Business Management System.
- Working in a team environment to meet target dates.
- Responsible for reporting to work on time, with proper PPE, and being fully engaged for the entire shift.
- Other duties as assigned.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must:
- Be able to comply with ITAR and EAR residency requirements.
- Be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 90 days introductory period.
- Experience in the forging or metals industry is preferred.
- Verbal Communication - Intermediate
- Team Player - Required
- Goal Completion - Required
High School or better.
