GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:A High Dosage Tutor works directly with Elementary and Middle School students, providing tutoring and instructional support in reading and math. The Tutor assists students in mastering grade-level academic standards in small groups of up to 3 students. This seasonal, part-time position involves working between 2 and 3.5 hours daily after school, five days a week, with schedules subject to change based on district needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Provide small group and individual interventions to help students master instructional materials.
- Engage children and youth by following and implementing the Intervention curriculum.
- Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in oral communication activities.
- Accurately score student assessments and monitor progress.
- Assist school staff in devising strategies to reinforce learning based on individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
- Report any concerns or important information about students to the Student and Family Literacy Coordinator.
- Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality consistent with licensed teachers.
- Participate in in-service training sessions as assigned.
- Operate and care for instructional equipment and materials.
- Keep daily attendance records for students.
- Complete paperwork accurately and promptly.
- Arrive punctually and communicate planned or emergency absences to the Program Analyst.
- Serve as a positive role model through appropriate dress, speech, attitude, and courtesy.
- Assist in maintaining the site according to Think Together standards.
- Follow organizational and site policies and procedures.
EXPERIENCE:
- Proof of high school graduation or GED required.
- 48 college semester units or 60 quarter units, or passing a Pre-Employment test required.
- Experience working with young children and the ability to motivate is preferred.
