Main Responsibilities
- Adhere to Delta's safety programs to ensure a safe work environment.
- The ability to operate heavy equipment.
- Have an accurate and working knowledge of heavy equipment.
- Willingness and ability to keep equipment maintained and clean.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends.
- Operate equipment in a safe and consistent manner.
- Abilities must be flexible as to allow various labor activities including, but not limited to shoveling dirt or asphalt using short or long handle shovels; cutting or trimming trees and vegetation using axes, ditch blades, sling blades, chain saws or power weed trimmers; driving stakes or breaking pavement using sledgehammers, digging holes using hand-operated post hole diggers; operating hand-driven compaction devices, and brooming dirt and debris using hand brooms.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have one or more years experience working in and around construction equipment.
- Must provide own transportation to and from work.

- Must be able to climb onto and up and down a machine several times a day.
- Must be able to sit in a machine and operate it for several hours without stopping.
- Must withstand vibration from job site conditions as well as noise from other equipment.
- Must have the ability to perform physical labor, such as standing for long periods of time, lifting, climbing, shoveling and having agility in the heat.
- Must be able to use arms, hands, and feet in repetitive motions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach and signal with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
