Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med/Surg position requiring an active NE or compact RN license and BLS certification.
Responsibilities- Work in a 28-bed acute care medical-surgical unit
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- Night shift; 12-hour shifts from 6:30pm to 7:00am
- Patient ratios are 1:4 on days and 1:5 on nights
- Uses Epic for electronic charting
- May float to the ER for 1:1 patient sitting as needed
- Weekend and holiday shifts required as needed by the unit
- Classroom orientation with one 12-hour floor shift provided
- Schedule determined by the unit scheduler; no block scheduling
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Travelers are fully integrated into the unit culture and treated as part of the team
- Charge nurse and nurse aide support are available on every shift
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas
- Only up to 7 days of requested time off are permitted per 13-week contract and must be requested up front
- Returning candidates must not have been employed directly by Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past year
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- Active NE or compact RN license is required at the time of consideration
- At least 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
- Must pass a skills exam during orientation with at least a 90% score
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility and provide a valid driver’s license for verification
- Candidates cannot be current full time, part time, or PRN employees at any facility associated with Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years
