Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Eligible for an Alternate Work Schedule;
Work 72 hours, get paid for 80. This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT which will remain open until closing date or until filled. Applicants will be qualified & referred on a regular basis.

Duties

This Registered Nurse (RN) position is located within the Papillion - CHI Midlands Hospital Campus at 11111 South 84th Street. VA Community Living Centers are a place where Veterans receive extended hospital care and short-term rehabilitation levels of care which includes help with activities of daily living, skilled nursing, and dementia care. This CLC has a total of 33-beds, providing services to eligible Veterans needing 30-90 days of skilled rehabilitation, or dementia/ neurocognitive support.

The mission of a Community Living Center is to restore each Veteran to his or her highest level of well-being, to prevent declines in health, and to provide comfort at the end of life.

The Community Living Center Registered Nurse duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components.
  • Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
  • Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
  • Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Performs complex procedures to include catheterizations, venipuncture, central line dressing changes, wound care, heparin or saline flushes in peripheral lines and PICC lines.
  • Responds to patient emergencies, initiating life saving measures while waiting for help to arrive. Ability to provide Basic Life Support if needed.

Work Schedule: Day and Night shifts available to include rotating weekends and holidays. Alternate Work Schedule (AWS) - work 72 hours per pay period (12-hour shifts only); once initial orientation is completed

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
