This role focuses on student success, helping students overcome obstacles to graduation while preparing them for career and college pathways. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday during the school year with flexibility during the summer.

About JAG-KJobs For America’s Graduates - Kansas (JAG-K) partners with Kansas schools to help students facing challenges to be successful. We are a non-profit organization that offers an elective class to provide academic and other positive supports to ensure students earn their high school diploma. We have 121 programs located in 54 Kansas school districts and currently serve more than 5,500 students in Kansas by educating students through career exploration opportunities and teaching soft skills to prepare them for post-secondary education, military service, or the workforce.

A Career Specialist identifies, recruits, and educates students who have difficulties between them and graduation while helping them make a successful transition from school to college, military, or career pathways using the JAG model. These individuals develop positive relationships with students through the JAG Advantage of project-based learning, trauma-informed care, and employer engagement to deliver student-centered programs with the goal of helping youth achieve their greatest potential.
These individuals instruct 35 to 60 students to ensure performance outcomes are met or exceeded using project-based learning and JAG activities such as student conferences centered around career, civic, social, and service-learning, and career exploration. Career Specialists also deliver value-added instruction, support, and advocacy to graduates and non-graduates through follow-up services with students. Although this role may have its challenges, it can be very rewarding as positive relationships are developed with students and one sees the successful futures students go on to lead after they leave JAG-K.
Responsibilities- Identify, recruit, and educate students regarding pathways to graduation, college, military, or careers through the JAG model.
- Deliver student-centered programs using project-based learning, trauma-informed care, and employer engagement.
- Support graduates and non-graduates through follow-up services and advocacy.
- Build positive relationships with students and help them achieve their potential.
- High school diploma required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with technology.
