Key responsibilities
Welding:  Use the TIG welding process to join metal components according to detailed plans.
Fabrication:  Cut, prepare, and assemble metal parts to meet project specifications.
Blueprint interpretation:  Read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to determine welding requirements.
Quality control:  Inspect completed welds for defects like cracks, porosity, or inconsistencies, and make necessary repairs.
Equipment operation:  Set up, operate, and maintain TIG welding equipment, including gas tanks, torches, and regulators.
Safety compliance:  Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times to protect against hazards like fumes, heat, and bright light.
Maintenance:  Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on welding equipment to ensure it is in optimal working condition.
Workspace organization:  Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following 5S principles or similar housekeeping standards.
Required skills and qualifications
High school diploma or ITI Welder equivalent.
TIG welding certification is often required.
Proven experience, with 2-3 years being common.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Excellent attention to detail and good eyesight for precision work.
Physical stamina for long periods of standing and precise movements.
Understanding of welding safety practices and procedures.
Familiarity with different types of metals and how they react to heat.
