Diesel Technician/Mechanic III - Entry Level

As a Technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on the newest and best‑maintained fleet of vehicles in the industry. You will help our customers keep their vehicles in shape and on the road.

• Ensuring vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers.
• Using Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic diagnostics.
• Performing preventative maintenance such as tire replenishment or rotation, component lubrication and replacement, electrical system repairs, and cooling system maintenance on gasoline and diesel engine vehicles.
• Partnering with management to learn new skills via Penske’s technician training and hands‑on coaching.
• Working on additional projects and tasks as assigned by supervisors.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and 1–2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Problem‑solving ability and comfort using tools.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Team‑working capability.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to follow specific instructions, guidelines, rules, and regulations set by Penske.
• Adherence to DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies, including correct tool selection, PPE use, machine guarding, and best safety practices.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance required.
• Compliance with DOT regulations for driving Penske and customer vehicles, maintenance of a current driver qualification file, and fulfillment of DOT Physical and Safety Performance History checks within the last 3 years; CDL holders required to pass a DOT Drug Screening within 30 days of start and subject to FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
• Willingness to work required schedule, location, complete Penske employment application, submit to background screening (criminal checks, past employment, education), pass drug screen and physical, and travel for training as required.

• Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, and sit for extended periods during the scheduled workday.
• Use hands routinely to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel, or operate required tools or controls.
• Work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms.
• Operate safely in all weather conditions.
• Navigate safely in an environment with frequent movement of large trucks.
• Regularly lift or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg); occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs (45 kg).
