Position: Director of Med Surge, RN, Panama City, FL
Director of Med-Surg RN

Location: Panama City, FL

Job Summary: Provide leadership for planning, management, implementation, integration, and coordination of the unit in support of facility goals dedicated to excellence, effective leadership, and financial stability. Support the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective patient care through activities based on facility strategic goals and objectives.

What you will do in this role:
  • Enhance the department through performance improvement and appropriate utilization of resources.
  • Develop an operational system that supports a seamless flow of patients through the continuum of care.
  • Facilitate the development of a comprehensive education program for patients and staff.
  • Collaborate with physicians to provide leadership throughout the department.
  • Evaluate and make recommendations regarding new technology and services.
  • Collaborate proactively with all interdisciplinary team members and with a patient/family focus to facilitate and maximize healthcare outcomes. Coordinate multi-disciplinary patient care conferences for high-risk or medically complex patients.
  • Lead research projects under the IRB.
  • Direct the development of specific short and long-range programs and project plans to achieve facility objectives.
  • Responsible for planning and coordination of activities, operational efficiency, and effectiveness, impacting all hospital areas.
  • Interview and select qualified personnel to meet department objectives, ensuring hiring practices conform to Affirmative Action/EEO regulations.
  • Provide direction to staff and supervisors, review performance, approve evaluations, and handle disciplinary actions as needed.
    • Qualifications:
    • At least 2-3 years of recent acute care supervisor/manager level experience in an adult inpatient setting.
    • Bachelor's Degree required.
    • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
    • Registered Nurse or Advanced Nurse Practitioner licensure.
